VHAD has been running Skill Development Training Center since Dec. 2016 at CB-64A, Naraina. The objective of establishing this centre was to raise the funds and Women Empowerment through the training as well as to orient the trainees in family life education, personal hygiene, family welfare programme, HIV/AIDS and so many other contents.
During the reporting period 40 Girls and Women are enrolled under different training programs i.e, Beauty Culture, Computer Application at its office Naraina and Dress making at Sub-Centre Bihari Colony. Due to shortage of funds VHAD has two staff i.e, one Programme Officer on permanent basis and one Instructor have been appointed for the training as well as community awareness programmes in the operational area.
The duration of skill development training is 6 months. After completion of the training HAD conduct the exam and provide certificates to the trainees. The fees paid by the trainees deposit in the account of VHAD as resource generation. The instructor has been paid 75% of the amount collected by her as honorarium. During the reporting period Rs. 21650/- has been deposited under resource generation. VHAD also received Rs.22000/-as donation from the members. It is to be informed that due to COVID-19 Pandemic the training center was closed for 8-9 months in reporting period. Program Officer is made responsible for Computer training and community programs.
During the year primary focus of health service was to sensitize woman towards their health needs and to promote health seeking behavior in them. Good health is more than the absence of disease. Good health means the well-being of a women’s body, mind and spirit.
Through this activity main aim to provide focused health care awareness and intervention of the community level and link it with Govt. services for primary, secondary and tertiary health care.
Due to poverty and illiteracy the community persons do not avail the services of Govt. hospitals or Dispensaries. They like to go to the unauthorized Local Doctors for the treatment. The activities under taken by Voluntary Health Association under the health component are Counseling for adolescents, IEC activities. VHAD put the information stall and Exhibition to give information on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Cancer, Say no to Tobacco, Nutrition and other related issues.
The concern for Environmental quality has become the topmost issue in the present scenario of rising population, increasing urbanization, industrial pollution as well as pollution of water due to discharge of industrial fluents and sewage without conforming to the environmental norms and standard. VHAD sensitize regarding environment and its improvement for better living conditions. When we talk about the Environment we include the plants, the animals, soil, air, water, minerals, metals and last but not least, man himself.
VHAD Conducts session on Personal and sexual hygiene in the slum area and inform them that Menstruation is the vaginal bleeding that occurs in adolescent gins and women as a result of hormonal changes. It normally happens in a predictable pattern, once a month, Organization contacted Vyomini NGO to supply the Sanitary Pads at Skill Development centre for the use of Trainees as well as local mothers.
Main objective is to inform about the importance of Sexual Health, its meaning and relationship with Reproductive and Child Health. To make them aware about the traditional Indian beliefs, and customs about menstruation, which are not having scientific basis. To inform them about the diet and activities during menstruation period. Give correct information about poor menstrual Hygiene results in ill health i.e. UTI, RTI and other vaginal related problems.
VHAD conducting session for adolescents. Adolescent is that stage in life, when we switch over from being children to being able to have children. This means a lot of changes, physical as well as emotional changes that prepare us for new kinds of relationships and that help us become more responsible for ourselves. Adolescents in India don’t get to know simple facts about the changes they are going through, a whole lot of myths making teenagers feel insecure, unattractive and generally worried.
